This paiting was done by Piet Mondrian now i forget what year but it was probably before his complete primary abstraction
I did not particularly care for his work,but while reading about him stumbled across this piece.
I have found that my ignorance can lead me to create opinions I may like to change in the future.
Now ,when I see Mondrian's work, I will relate it something i like and maybe find relationships between his works
To get a good effect of this painting squint your eyes at it, and all middle values disappear and we are left with just the essentials

Well I haven't blogged in a while I've been very busy.Finished my commission of white orchid She was very pleased.Also I'm almost done this "Empty Chairs "
I really like this one .I feel it will lead in me in a new direction.Ya hoo!

Calla Lily

added a few last touched to these floral paintings not my specialty but i feel a painter should be well rounded,so the experience was a learning one the one on the left is titled flamboyance and the other is titled centered Thats how i feel today

I began this today, it mesures 36x36 inches
This blog is turning into a painting a day blog even if thats not what my intentions were.
the coordinator of the Delta hotel has invited me to be part of a group showing (theme florals)
It begins next monday ,I accepted. Being fully aware that I would have to work under pressure to finish quickly
Maybe this is the best way to work.

I also painted a bit on my competition project,it is coming along quite well.This is a detail of the painting.I learned about color today .Hard to explain ,but I feel I took a step in the right direction :)

This painting was done very impulsively.It doesn't really reflect what I'm about ,but it was very fun to create.36x36 oil on canvas
Yes it's square and not in this pic there was a glare because the paint was still wet ,so I sliced that part off
After the croping I like it like this,I may have to paint another.

The weekend at the park is over now,and I'm some relieved.Fun to see all the artist ans spend time with friends.Weather was great and I made three sales and a few new contacts.I did consume some illegal beverages on the premises,and spread some sunshine to other fellow rule breakers. Here I am wearing someone elses hat.I had some very good art chats with artist more learned than I.( thanks Paul.B.)

Painters festival this weekend

A few new paintings done for the festival this weekend.My mother is also a painter and my tent partner,which makes the the weekend go by much better.This will probably be my last festival,this year I have nothing good I feel to present.I painted all summer and sold most of them, so I have a bit of stress not being ready for this event
I plan on sneaking some cognac in a pop bottle to ease my anxiety I'll post images of the scene on monday, good weekend everyone!

This painting has never been seen by anyone but my family. I am not an abstract painter ,but sometimes I am tempted to try.
I feel it is what I called missed a missed attempt
A friend of mine once said that work you are not sure of should never be seen , I sort of agree with that
I think it should be seen, but should not be sold.
We are not flawless as humans,why should our art be any different Without failure, there is no success

First session

I know this doesn't look like much right now,but to me it is the skeleton of what is to be
Before I begin a painting, I always try to visualise it first. I know I'm ready to begin when I can see it.The title of this 36x36 oil on canvas is " Empty Chairs"

Not As Easy As It Looks...

As in Ed's last blog post, I believe we are not only called to be artists, but we are intended to create specific visual images. As I tried to re-create Tracey's colour palette, I realized that without her artistic experience, this was impossible for me to do. So, I began my competition project; so far, so good. I'm please with the first session; I'll keep posting images as it progresses.

Maybe not so heavy this time around

The first sweet pea painting has not satisfied me I feel I want to paint it again only this time with a little /Tracy influence tangerine ond orange I will add maybe a powder blue This image is not the painting just a guideline for what I would like to try hopefully I'll get a chance to paint tomorrow

My question today is
Is it better to keep painting when you don't feel like ,to keep warmed up, or is it better to take a break and wait until you feel the inspiration to create? 

This will be my next project
Big competition coming up in two weeks, so I have to bust a move I think this subject will be perfect for palette knife, except for those stripes on the girls shirt(I'll have to eliminate those) . Right now I'm painting the dining room, so I'll begin this painting as soon as my walls are done.
I bought art which (you could see at the heronbaygallery) on my links) and the walls were not doing the painting justice

I'll probably end up cutting the canvas to the detail image i think i like it better that way

You win some you loose some

Darn my silver underpainting didn't work.The paint wasn't smooth like the gold spray
the silver paint tinted all the other paint i'd put on the canvas. I should have learned from the previous time I tried it.
I guess now the Orchid has to be a palette knife painting I will cover the canvas tonight with spatula work and post the fininshed product when done

found this photo and manipulated it's croping & light with picasa I love it i think it's mysterious and erotic, and would be a good diversion from my usual portraits I have painted a 22x28 canvas with silver spay paint and will begin tonight 

Here it is I worked until 1am My husbands is shown in the back putting wire hooks on for me
I thought the scale of his head gave a good idea of how big the painting is

This is Jane My husbands sister's daughter,we went on a trip to PEI and i got some great shots of her girls
I'm inspired to paint this with a metalic underpainting (which i did this morning),can't wait for night to come so the kids are asleep and i can get started Will post progress on this one too


My "Marie "series is still in the works too, I 'm waiting for the right size canvas to begin the previous portait photo of her 

I'm finished ,but when i said earlier I had no doubts,ha Those are finding their way in now

There are a few things I don't like about this painting

I find it boring, too romantic, pre raphealite

I got caught up in the technical part of things

On a possitive note this painting is original, bright & sunny

My next project is going to be done with a metalic spray underpainting

Worked about an hour today on this will ,need about 2 more hours to complete .My schedual with the kids is very hectic i hope to fit painting in this weekend even with visits and traveling
I have a good feeling about this painting .no doubts which is rare.

Today was my first session ,i'll need another 2 session with this piece I guess seeing the progression on the computer helps this need more blue and yellow of to the paint store tomorrow

Trying to capture what expression I see

The previous image speaks softly but has a strong underlying feeling of desire much like my painting Secondary Colors. I feel everyone has desires and thing they need to pursue, or overcome
I will post the progress of this piece i think it will be again 36x48 no metalic paint this time just seconday colors

working on my photo shoot and this image stikes me as being a good painting There are a lot more great images, this is good because i didn't have much for subject, so now i'm getting ready to produce a series 

This is an older paintng done last spring I have done very few florals I don;t have much interest in the subject This one came about by accident, a good accident it mesured 36x48 done with a two inch brush -fun! 

I guess i was impatient and began this at 11pm last night it is a monster 36x48 inches again trowel and metalic paint needs more work today hope my staying up late last night doesn't affect the quality of my work today

looking at this ,possible next subject 

Added a bit more ,I still think the eyes need more expression so another session and I'll be done

New Discovery

I have not blogged in a while I guess after a bit of a painting lull I always tend to do soemthing new I began painting with a brick laying trowel if thats how you spell it??I know it's truelle in french This painting is not quite finished almost though a few more touches
Working with an unfamiliar tool gives a new challenge plus a rougher finish which i like. There is not much control with the trowel
This piece is 36x36 inches again done with metallic paint bronze and gold a little sienna in the darker areas
i think I will try this technique again I have a new model coming Monday,her name is Mar. She's a friend ,so it should be fun
