Grace done by my Mom

This is a watercolor painted by my mother who is also an artist Grace (the model )is a watercolorist too
What fun we have here, our coastal artistic community we are like bids of a feather....but some of us fly south ... A Grace:)

Wedding Painting

This is a painting a did a few years ago one of my first i entered it in a competition and to my surprize i won thirdplace( provincial ribbon)
I think that event led me to keep painting and I'm happy to have the opportunity to continue
My mother got third place last spring and she has been painting ever since

This painting was the one I traded

It measures36x36 oil over acrylic

First Snow

Last night I went outside and was taken with how beautiful the first snow always is . I forget from season to season what things look like.
So I decided to take pictures it was dark so the lighting is strange
I finally did manage to paint I had a trade of art to make good on
I guess i'd been to busy to settle down long enough to paint it I'll post a picture of before I trade her
I'm receiving for exchange a pastel work by Suzanne Dallaire(I'm very happy to have one of her works) I'll also post a pic of it and Sheri Burhoe's painting as well
I found a great spot for it Sheri it's perfect :)
I got some good news this morning , HeronbayGalery sold Full Bodied and also Mr Georges Goguen offered me an exhibition spot at the Aberdeen Cutural Center in Moncton I accepted ,it is in January 2007
I have ideas for some new work I'm getting excited about trying something different Posted by Picasa

Art auction for fund raising

A few interestings have happened in the last few days -last tuesday there was an auction held for the Tree of hope
Annually a mutitude of events help raise money for cancer. I got a call last evening with some very good news that my painting did very well at the auction this is a great benifit for the charity and I was very happy about the outcome.... This is the painting titled "Flamboyance"36x48 oil on canvas(spatula) -Today I met Sheri Burhoe artist from Hampton (check links to see her work)
Again there was an auction we both have objects in for the adoption fund raising. I wasn't able to make the auction, but I did meet her and she is much younger than I imagined. I felt a lot older ,and she is also a lot taller than I'd imagined
I love my painting Sheri and I'll find a special place for it THANKYOU!
I was asked to do a commission portait today , something I don't normally do. I had the feeling I needed to do this one( instinct)
I'm still not painting I have no canvas yet and I"m thinking about entering a photo competition
So within the next few days I'll know what my next project is Posted by Picasa

This will be my slump pic(when this is up i'm not working)

What I liar I am...:) I seem to want to post this image when i'm not feeling like painting. I don't no if it's christmas approching , or if it's not having any canvas right now. But I'm not feeling very inspired.

There are so many directions to take and each one last at least 3 paintings and also changes the course of futur work.
When I think to much about what I'm creating , I get a little nervous
I know how important it is to be authentic in one's product
Art is to be taken from the very core ..... Unanaletic( if thats a word) What i mean to say is... if too analysed... too technical
it may loose spontaneous right to which what I believe every work deserves ,, bla.. bla.. again too much brandy :) sleep tight everyone Posted by Picasa

Empty Chairs 36x36

I am posting this painting again....This work brought and me as lot of joy After the competition loss I felt like I couldn't look at this painting the same way anymore. I did learn so much about myself(the good the bad and the ugly) as well as about complementary colors and composition
I got a call today that this painting was sold, from a gallery I just became a part of called "Gallery Mosaic"
All the doubts I had are healed .....not for always, but for today anyway:) Posted by Picasa

Another painting demonstration

I was asked to do a demonstration for the Moncton Art Society.I felt very honored to be chosen for this event.I am not a great public speaker , but it was a bit easier than last time.Although I feel the painting didn't turn out as good. The magic didn't really happen tonight. It happened in my preliminary sketch. Sometimes I feel like my adversity to following rules in a negative thing. Wanting that freedom to create liberally without a plan is like gambling ,but now that I have vocalized that in my head ,maybe ThatS what I'm addicted to. The rush of that immediat struggle, it's the thrill of the fight. ok Enough cognac for me tonight hehe
