Portrait painting

This is my latest work, and I hope my clients are pleased(they haven't seen it yet)
I used to dread doing commission work, but now things seem a bit easier
Teaching charcoal classes has helped me get things right quicker
I preach this to my students , and I'm seeing for myself that it does help
Drawing above done this morning at my class Thanks for the subject matter Lorraine!

Amber, thanks for sharing. When it comes to portraiture, you definitely rule these days! I love the look of those long brush strokes :)

Amber, looks like you have a knack for selecting winning paintings… not that I should be the least surprised! My “Bernard l’ermite” painting was awarded the honorable mention at a Montreal art contest. J’avais un coup de coeur pour cette peinture but I was hesitant to submit a work that broke many of the rules of traditional painting… however, your spontaneous vote of approval gave me wings! If my awards get bigger… I guess I’ll have to send you royalty checks:))

Amber, I meant "why should I be the least surprised"! After all you're an award winner yourself... my English failed me:)

Talking about masterpieces, this portrait makes a few bold statements about “masterpiecehood” if such a word exists! Close scrutiny reveals nothing in particular beyond a pleasing continuum of undifferentiated color harmonies. From a distance though, these harmonies speak loud and clear about the facial features they represent. The only explanation I can think of is that the painter painted pure light. Bring on the light Amber:))

Amber, on the subject of writing out your thoughts, in your case, all you need is to paint them:))
