Jude passed away

This morning our beta fish was not swimming. He had a disease called dropsy , the kids were sad , I was too--he was a good fish

This photo is closer to demonstrate what the knife strokes look like it is a bit blurry and the colors are not as brilliant as in reality

This morning i was really there, that place where everything is flowing like music . It was something I think i'd been missing or forgot about

Something i've been noticing recently is how independent a painting can be-meaning having a personality of it's own (surprizing really)

Today

I finally began work again this mornings painting is for a competition coming up
Still some work to do , but i like it now i need to find a title was thinking -primardial-
I'm not fininshed added friends to my links so--- Lori and Sheri & Ed I haven't forgotten you

I have not been blogging very much, I'm on Saatchi chating with other artist and have made many new friends.This has brought me to re-think my blog

I will re-do my link list to be able to have both my worlds, so all my old friends can meet my new friends.

this painting was done about a year ago 24x36 oil on canvas palette knife 

Finished today I placed my daughter Claire beside the painting to show scale in this pic the detail is not great
i had a bit of trouble with the chin amd background color
The photo i used was the best the client had ,but it had it's difficulties i hope she likes it 

 

Second session on this painting it's not easy getting a perfect resemblance . Working over gold means not being able to fix any mistakes ,much like watercolor Once touch it doesn't come off
This is probably the most challenging work I've done
Guess i'll keep working till i get it right 

 

inspiration found me

This is a photo of M.Marc LeBlanc he sudenly passed away in 2000i think at the age of 25
I got a commission to do his portrait in large format over gold I began this morning and things are progressing well
I felt very sad for the loss his parents must feel
I feel the work i'm doing ,is part of something important
Handsome isn't he!

Picassa has a fun option to make collages but-doesn't let chose where to colle!I would have prefered handling the spots myself
Seems I'm playing a lot more than painting lately
I need to be inspired==any hints ?

I need a better digital camera,my hand is not steady enough for no flash pics are always blurry
i like this painting ( i see the right eye looks a liyttle off,easy to fix)
i think it just may be my provincial competition entree

My livingroom today

I've begun the painting of sonny's crowd
Here are three works at different stages. I notice to be slowing down some in production ,but it is quite comfortable slow and steady.I feel more certain about my choices and where I'm headed
Selfdoubt is the artist enemy
I think our confidence levels fluctuate Then become evident in the work Recently I have become aware of this factor not only in art,but also in all areas of living

My Australian fashion photogragher friend(link) took this photo I have been looking at it for months ,now I do think Sonny is ok with me using his pics as long as I give him proper credit
I will also tell you his life is so amazing travel ,women,food,sights,nice weather,beaches(beyond anyones wildest dreams)
I'm a stay at home mom and have adventures of another sort(which is ok too)
I'm very happy.
ok back to the photo the more I look at it the more I see potential for abstraction and beautiful color harmonie
It has been altered here to my liking and will be my next project (if thats ok with you Sonny ;) 

my living room today

i've been luckuy the last few days i've sold jane and maybe Runway 2 the empty spots on the gallery wall need to be filled so tomorrow i think i'll bring slumber(the one on the right ) and centered the floral on the bottom the brightly painted man is the one i'm working on now my time's running out for mini show at the cultural center i need to work harder maybe that should be the New Years resolution Work!Work! Work!
I thought it would be to drink less and save money hehe
