New process

This is a new process for me, I think brought on by doing more charcoal . The sketch is done on a white canvas ,then I used a workable fixative (it dries quickly). This permited me to paint directly over the sketch. The paint I used is alizaron crimson and veridian green mixed gives this pretty lilac color. When this under painting is completed I'll decided what other colors I'll add. I'm really enjoying this ,I really needed a change .... good for the soul.

Amber, you caught us off guard on this one. Beautiful Zenish/sumi-e like effects at this stage. This is the stuff dreams are made of… like partial coloration of black and white photographs, which requires a skill set you evidently already have. I bought a book from an Israeli painter (http://www.schwebelpaints.com/) a few years back…fascinated by his partial coloration of black and white drawings on canvas using oils. I have been wanting for a while to float acrylics on Chinese black ink and paste the rice paper support on canvas as a second step…
